Recent developments in immersive learning technologies are providing exciting new tools for teaching and training programmes, yet they remain underutilised in science & technology education and nowhere is this truer than in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering.
The aim of this Summer School is to bring PhD students, postdocs and more senior scientists together to learn and discuss Science & Engineering Education by Immersive Learning. This summer school offers an interdisciplinary programme that integrates training in the areas of innovative chemical engineering, instructional psychology & pedagogy and immersive technology.
The summer school consists of 10 lectures (60 min lecture + 30 min of Q&A) and 4 practical sessions of 2 hours each. The lecturers/trainers are experts in their fields.

Researchers are invited to participate with posters, which will be on display during the whole duration of the summer school.
Abstract submission for poster participation
Participants can submit an abstract (1500 character/around 25 lines – excluding the title, authors and their affiliation), describing the purpose, results and main conclusions of the work. No standard template to be used. In case figures, tables and references to be included, then you may upload the abstract as an attachment.
The deadline for abstract submission is 10th September 2019. The authors will be informed by 15th September 2019 of the acceptance of their abstract for a poster pitch.

Registration will be open 1st July 2019
The following registration fees apply:
- CHARMING ESRs/Official Supervisors: 200 euro
- Other PhD students and postdocs: 300 euro
- Industrial affiliates: 450 euro
The registration fee includes all lunches and coffee breaks (3 days) and a ticket to Arcave (VR experience).
In case of cancellation of participation before 04/09/2019, the registration fee will be refunded deducting a handling fee of €35 per person. In case of cancellation after 04/09/2019, no refunds of any kind will be made.
Travel and Accommodation
Leuven is only 15′ away by train from Brussels Airport. Participants are responsible to organize their own travel and accommodation.
Hotel rooms have been block-booked at the summer school venue: Novotel Leuven.
