Prof. Jarka Glassey (University of Newcastle), Supervisor of ESR 10 & ESR14
Prof. Jarka Glassey graduated from STU in Bratislava, Slovakia in biochemical engineering and works at Newcastle University in the UK. She is currently VP Technical of the IChemE and a VP Executive of the ESBES. Her main research interests are in bioprocess development, modelling and optimization and over the years she worked with a range of (bio)pharmaceutical companies on Quality by Design/PAT related projects. She is passionate about chemical engineering education and led the Education SIG of IChemE as well as representing the UK in the Working Party on Education of EFCE. A large part of her research is dedicated to exploring effective methods of teaching chemical engineering and her latest EU grant on education is exploring the use of virtual and augmented reality in safety training. She has coordinated an EU funded iTeach education project on developing a robust framework for assessing the learning gain in engineering education and has been involved in projects exploring game-based learning.
